Weekend Getaway

My boyfriend got a really good deal on a motel in Lompoc, CA. For one night he spent $20 and it was an amazing deal with free breakfast.

On Saturday we woke up at 4:30 am (I didn’t get out of bed til 5). The only reason why we woke up so early was to try Paula’s Pancake breakfast. We have been there before and I loved how delicious their bacon was and how crispy their hash browns are too.

After we finished our delicious breakfast we had time to kill until check in. So we decided to try Anderson’s famous split pea soup. Once you go inside you see their cute gift shop area and if you go upstairs you will see their museum. I felt like I traveled back in time as we were looking at old can goods they had on display. They even had a lot of their city history captured in old photos and newspaper clippings.

Since we were full we thought a nice outdoor activity would help us digest our food so we went to the La Purisima Mission State Historic Park. If you have kids or you just love learning I highly recommend you check this mission out. They are extremely hands on when it comes to teaching you how things were done during the mission times. They have many animals such as pigs (big ones), chickens, horses and a huge bull. One of my favorite things is that we got some free finger food but I got to make my own necklace. I know that I will be back and this time I’m going to bring my aunt, mom and sister there.

As for dinner, I was blown away by the best steak I have ever had! We went to this restaurant called  The Hitching Post II . My boyfriend being the yelp elite he is was scoping out the area for good eats. He said that everyone posting reviews would say best steak I have ever had. When we got there the wait was 45 to an hour long. We were lucky that there was room for us at the bar because my stomach was already talking lol.

I loved this place so much! I had their split pea soup and steak dinner. The pea soup was 10 times better than Anderson’s (which stocked me). Then for my meal I had their medium rare 8 oz filet mignon with a baked potato. The steak was so juicy and tender, it felt like heaven in my mouth.

The next day we got our free breakfast and checked out. Overall it was a great short trip to get away from the everyday. I hope you all had a fun weekend as well!

Love,

Erika
