Today marks a significant day in my culture.
It was the day that Mexico stood together and revolted against the Spaniards. Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla was the father of this whole movement. He gave a famous speech known as “Grito de Dolores, or Cry of Dolores”. It became very powerful because Hidalgo was captured and executed right after he armed his people. When Hidalgo was killed the people finally had enough of the Spanish rule and fault back . Mexico had won the battle and got back their country. So today Mexican’s all over the world celebrate the glory of victory. The Mexican President every year go out to the balcony and yells, “Viva México! Viva la Independencia! Vivan los héroes!” In Mexico they have all these festivals and many make their signiature dishes. It really is a celebration worth seeing.
So today to represent my culture and roots I decided to dress up. As far as my plans I guess I will just have to wait and see what I come up with. Hope you all have a great Friday!
